Rituals & Performances

Rudram · Chamakam · Mahābhiṣekam

Rudram is the fierce invocation of Śiva—dissolving fear, ego, and impurities.

Chamakam follows as the prayer of fulfilment, invoking harmony, abundance, and balance.

When chanted together during Mahābhiṣekam on the Śivalinga, mantra, water, and devotion merge into living ritual. Each libation becomes a cosmic offering, awakening Śiva-tattva within and without.

On sacred nights like Śivaratri, this abhisekam is not symbolic alone—it is transformation through sound, rhythm, and surrender.

Tholpavakoothu

Tholpavakoothu is the ancient shadow-puppet ritual art of Kerala, traditionally performed in Bhagavathy temples during sacred nights. Using finely crafted leather puppets, oil lamps, and rhythmic narration, it retells episodes from the Kamba Rāmāyana.

More than performance, it is ritual worship—where light and shadow become philosophy, and storytelling becomes offering. Performed through the night, Tholpavakoothu aligns deeply with Śivarātri and Jāgarāṇa.

Bhairavanadam Bhajan Sandhya

Murukadas Chandran is a devoted practitioner and performer rooted in the Śaiva–Bhairava spiritual tradition of Kerala.

Bhairavanadam Bhajans, led by him, is known for its intense nocturnal bhajan sessions, especially during sacred observances like Śivarātri and Bhairava Jāgarāṇa. The bhajans combine traditional Śaiva hymns, rhythmic nada, and meditative repetition of divine names, creating an atmosphere that draws participants inward—towards stillness, vigilance, and inner awakening.

Satsang: Tantrokta Rātri Sūktam

Tantrokta Rātri Sūktam refers to the Tantric vision of the Night (Rātri) as taught in Saiva-Sákta Tantras, where night is not darkness or absence, but the womb of Consciousness the state in which Siva and Sakti dissolve all dualities.

Unlike Vedic hymns that praise cosmic order, Tantrokta teachings emphasize inner awakening, and direct realization during liminal moments especially the night.
